Feedback needed: Kids Triathlon again?

FEEDBACK NEEDED: Last year was our first year having two Kids Triathlons in addition to the full sprint (12+) triathlon.  This was exciting for the younger kids and seemed to be a ton of fun...  But to ensure we are on target we'd like your feedback.... Please review the questions below and send me an email (or respond to the blog)... THANK YOU!

What I need to know from you:
1. Were these fun for the kids?
2. Were they safe enough for more to feel comfortable doing them?
3. What would you change for 2014 if you'd like them again?
4. Would it be good to provide a little more of a challenge for the kids?
5. I'm considering making the 9-11 year old event a little harder.... Longer bike with a little more of a hill... still safe.... Thoughts?

An overview of 2013 events:

1. Ages are 3-8 -
Swim: 15 meters in the shallow end of the pool,
Bike: 1 lap around the park on a bike, scooter, big wheel or whatever moves and
Run: Sprint around the baseball field.

2. Ages 9-11.....  distances are:
Swim: 45 meters in the shallow end of the pool,
Bike: 2 laps around the AF park, and
Run: 1 lap around the park

3. Ages 12+ to Adult - Same course as the Icebreaker Tri and the Woman of Steel Triathlon... this event follows sanctioned routes, etc... and will probably stay the same.
Swim: 300 meters
Bike: 12 miles
Run: 5K

Please either respond to this blog entry or send me a personal email at: brohoffman@gmail.com.

Thank you for your effort.

  1. Loved the kid triathlon. Breanna loved being able to participate. Yes, I think you should make it more challenging. A little challenge never hurt anybody, even kids. I think we tend to underestimate them. Go for the gusto!
